Andrew Wilkey
Andrew Wilkey is a narrative painter, working in Acrilic paint on canvas. He is primarily exploring imagined landscapes and spaces inspired by both a love of the countryside and deep interest in symbols and mythology
“My pictures explore representations of emotions, memories and dreams. They express different aspects of being human like desire and hope and they do this through symbol, colour and the rhythm of the applied paint. My recent work has become concerned with a strong sense of 'place', but these are internal places, part of a journey or a moment in story.”
‘Myths and dreams come from the same place. They come from realizations of some kind that then have to find expression in symbolic form.’ Joseph Campbell
